Within the MECA community, we have a diverse set of teams which compete yearly. Within the new site, it is extremely easy to manage your team, as well as allow MECA members to submit a request to join your team via the teams page.
First things first:
- You must have a MECA membership and be logged in to view this page.
- If you are not logged in, you will receive a permission error and you will be denied access. (if you forgot your password you can use the password reset feature)
- If you are not logged in, you will receive a permission error and you will be denied access. (if you forgot your password you can use the password reset feature)
- Teams can be either public or private – meaning that private teams are invite only!
- Private teams will also “NOT” be visible within the Officially Recognized Teams section of the teams page.

- Next scroll down to the Officially Recognized Teams section of the page and find the public team you wish to join.
- Can’t find the team? The team is most likely private or not an official MECA team. If the team is private you will need to contact the team’s owner to have them invite you.

- Once you find the team you want to join, click on its name to be brought to that team’s details page.
- Finally, click on the green Join button at the right side of the page to request the team’s owner/manager to accept you as a new member of their team.
Once the team owner or manager has accepted your request you become a member of a team, you will see a new section within the teams page labelled Teams you belong to which will show all teams you have joined.
Your event results will only display the team after the team owner or manager has accepted the request. If the team does not show on your results this means that your request was not accepted before the scores were entered into the system. If this happens there is no way to enter the team in the new system. We would suggest reaching out to the team owner or manager to ensure they received and approved your request.
Leaving A Team:
Leaving a team is very easy to do. First ensure you are logged into your MECA account.
- Head over to https://mecacaraudio.com/teams/
- Find the team you wish to leave and click on its link
- At the right side of the page, click on the red Leave button to leave the team.
- If you have successfully left a team, that team will be removed from the Teams you belong to section of the teams page.
Managing/Owning A Team:
Managing/owning a team within the new MECA website is very easy! But first, you must ensure you are logged into your MECA account.
Teams Home:
You can manage your team at anytime via the teams page within the MECA site. Within this page, you can see the teams you manage, are associated with, and that are publicly visible within the MECA site.
Head over to https://mecacaraudio.com/teams/ or click on the “Member Menu” drop down at the top of the page and scoll down and select the “Teams” link.
Teams You Manage:
If you own or help manage any MECA competitor team(s), a separate section labelled Teams you manage will appear. This section will list all teams that you are able to manage, along with links to their details page.
Within the Team Details page, you will see:
- Team Name: The name you provided when the team was made
- Est Date: The date when the team was established within the MECA site
- Team Leader: The owner of the team
- Team Members: The list of all members of the team that are currently active
Making A Team Private:
If you do not want your MECA team to be public, you can easily make it private by following these steps:
- Head to the teams page, and click on the team you own / help manage which you want to make private
- Under the team name, there will be a section that states Make your team private. Click on the private link within the statement to make your team private.
- The team will now be removed from the Officially recognized teams list, and MECA members will not be able to request to join the team.
Accepting / Rejecting Member Requests: (Public Teams)
If a team you own or help manage is public, any MECA member can request to join your team. You will see a member requests to join your team. To accept or reject the new request simply:
- Find the list of members that have requested to join the team.
- To the right of their name you will see two buttons:
- Accept: This will add the MECA member to your team.
- Reject: This will reject the request and not allow the MECA member to join your team.
(No further action is needed and the members request will disappear from the request list)
Adding Members: (Private Teams)
If a team you own or help manage is private, MECA members will not be able to see the team in the team directory page, and they are not able to request to join that team. If you need to add a new member to a private team follow the below steps:
- First ensure the user has a MECA membership as you will need the members MECA ID
- Next head to the teams page, and click on your team you wish to add the new member to
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Team Members section where you will find a MECA ID text field.
- Within the text field input the MECA ID of the new team member – ensuring that the ID is input exactly and is 6 digits or more.
- After hitting Add to team the new team member should now be added to the Team Members list.
(If the member is not added to your list then the MECA ID may be invalid, expired or incorrect.)
Managing Team Members:
Within a team’s details page, there are several options available to managers / owners of teams to ensure management of the team is simple and easy:
- Change to manager: This allows the corresponding team member to Accept/Reject/Add new MECA members to that specific team.
- Change to member: If a team member is already a manager, this option will remove their manager credentials – removing the ability for them to Accept/Reject/Add new MECA members to that specific team.
- Remove from team: This option will remove the corresponding MECA Member from that specific team.
There will be tons of new features added to the new teams section in the coming months and we ask that you let us know if you experience any issues with this new teams system. Please submit a support request
